Work with Cath
HE Enabled's host, founder, and producer is available for freelance work! Find out more below.
About me
Cath Brislane (they/she) is a London-based creative and disability rights activist. A proudly neurodivergent and non-binary creator, you can normally spot me by their patterned shirts and jumpers!Â
I am best known for founding, hosting, and producing HE Enabled: The Disability at Uni* Podcast. This show shares lived experience of disability, neurodivergence, and long-term health conditions in UK higher education. Over 50 episodes have been released to date, including collaborations with Disabled Students UK and Learning on Screen. Five episodes are dedicated to The ADHD Survival Guide, a mini-series dedicated to delivering practical tips and advice for ADHD students at university.

In addition, I am also an emerging independent consultant. This includes freelance consultancy with Disabled Students UK since February 2026, where I have been a part of inclusive assessment projects and delivered multiple keynotes. Independent work includes a panel appearance for the Amano Academic Year Launch in September 2026 (see my recent projects below).Â
Â
Qualifications include a BA (Hons.) in English Literature and Linguistics from the University of York and an MPhil in Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics from the University of Oxford (Jesus College). I am a Laidlaw Scholarship alum, Chancellor's Leadership Prize Recipient (York, 2022), and current Awareness 360 fellow.
Â
Interests include retro video games, crafts, F1, photography, and UK higher education policy!Â

Community events and projects
The best work is achieved within a community. If you have a project that you want me to be a part of, fill in the contact form at the bottom of this page with information about your project and a proposed rate. I have been working at in-person events for a decade and always enjoy being a part of them!Â
Photography services
(portfolio below)
I have some experience with photographing wildlife, pets, and events (all outdoors). A sample of my portfolio is below. Note that none of these are offical projects; I am looking for my first paid role!Â
Â
Since I am relatively new to photography, I have the capacity to offer a reduced rate while I build my portfolio (especially when photographing indoor events).
Editing services can be provided for an additional charge.Â
Lived experience work within UK unis/HEIs
With five years of student voice under my belt, combined with my lived experience as a neurodivergent student in two Russell Group universities, I am uniquely positioned to teach disabled students how to advocate for themselves in a university environment. Perfect for SU workshops!Â
Podcast hosting and media appearances
I am an experienced podcast host, specialising in disabled and neurodivergent guests in the UK higher education space.Â

Previous work also includes off-screen interview work for the iGGi documentary (further information available below).Â
Speaking services
Topics include my lived experience as a disabled student and activist, the development of HE Enabled, and inclusive practices in audio podcasting.Â

I am also open to panel appearances. Recent topics include AI support for disabled students (see my work with Amano below).

FAQ's
Full day rates for speaking, panels, and interviews, start at £350 (with room to negotiate for shorter events). Additional charges may be incurred for prep work.
I am happy to travel in and around the Greater London area at my own expense. Travel to parts of Dorset (in and around the Bournemouth area) will need to be funded, though accommodation will not be required. Travel further afield will incur transport and accommodation expenses for 1-2 nights depending on how far I am travelling. This is due to the potential for fatigue and sensory overload caused by long-distance travel.
Clear and timely communication is a must. During in-person events, I require access to a quiet space (preferably soundproofed) to use if needed.
I do not use generative AI due to ethical concerns around training data, its real environmental impact, and to protect my cognitive resilience. However, I do believe AI has legitimate scientific applications in and can help bridge gaps for disabled people when used responsibly.Â

No generative AI is knowingly used in the creation of any of my projects. I ask clients to respect this decision by not feeding my work to AI models unless absolutely necessary (ie. to aid accessibility).
Â
If my work needs to be given to AI, I must be contacted and give the all-clear before doing so.Â
Yes! I am a proud non-binary person; I've been out for almost half a decade. Homophobia and transphobia will not be tolerated and may lead to upfront payment and the immediate termination of the project.Â
